Okay, so we don't have much going on for a few more weeks until signups and flights get situated before the season and the real trash talk can begin.
I know many folks do have the opportunity and some make it a regular practice to go see the pros at tournaments around the country and world. So it got me thinking about which events were the best. So which ones are:
The best overall event to see professional tennis?
Most economical?
Most fun?
Best for getting really close to the professionals?
For those that regularly go to some of the events, what things must we do and see at such event or in the city hosting the event to get the most out of the adventure?
I'm sure there is some good knowledge out there. So, let's hear it.
Watching Lifetime lose live is probably the best tennis viewing. You just can't beat seeing that look on their faces in person.
ReplyDeletelets talk about brookhaven this weekend? did you guys see the open draw. some questionable players tryin to play open...
ReplyDeletelifetime blows, hp blows,
ReplyDeleteTeam Swat will take care of business this year. Our singles are virtually unbeatable and the doubles can match up with Somabuts.
Team swat to nationals.
Doesn't team swat play out of HP? So I guess he thinks his team blows, but thet are going to nationals.
ReplyDeleteAnything exciting happen at the captain’s meeting on Saturday?
ReplyDeleteWill Team Branch Dominate 4.5's again this Year?????????
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the rest of you but that 3.0 womens league is pretty damn good stuff. The pace and shot making skills are something to behold.
ReplyDeleteActually, I like a good old Ivanovic vs Sharapova match.
Good tennis after the Captains meeting on Saturday. Thanks to all for participating!!

ReplyDeleteTrickle up effect. Lots of questionable players playing 4.5.
Everybody trying to avoid that 44-man 4.0 singles draw.
ReplyDeleteI have heard the Pro-tournament in Miami is the best for getting up close to the courts with the pros.
ReplyDeleteUnless you are playing in a draw, who are you to really question people who pony up and play.
ReplyDeleteIf a 4.0 plays 4.5 or a 4.5 plays open, what does it really matter.
Most people play tournaments for one of two reasons: 1. To get competitive matches or 2. To accumulate points/trophies.
ReplyDeleteIf you are playing for competitive matches, it sucks to play against players way below you. Example: I'm playing 4.5 dubs and there is one team with a 3.5 player and a 4.0 player. They lost first-round in the last Brookhaven tournament in 4.0 dubs so they decided to move up to 4.5???
If you are playing for points, you should be happy that lesser players sign up in your division. I fall into this category by the way so I couldn't care less if a 3.5 or 4.0 wants to play 4.5.
The open division is always a joke though because it usually ranges from 3.5 to 5.5. I think some people would rather lose in open than lose in 4.5.
Is the draw for this weeks tournament posted as I can't find it?
ReplyDeleteAu contraire, The Brookhaven Draw is already posted. Looks like some matches will be played at Greenhill Friday night. :-)
