So much like Marc I will preface this by saying it is very EARLY but then again we are 4 weeks from playing match #1 and a couple of weeks from knowing some match dates, etc. For the most part the flights seem pretty evenly matched.
Flight A:
BH/Helterbrann (Fall DCC)
CC/Heflin
HP/Somabut (Fall Champ)
Springpark/Doyle
Hackberry
Eldorado/Hampton
TBar (Spring DCC)
Huffhines
LBH/Jones (Spring QT)
OC/Smith 3 (Fall DCC, some of them...)
This flight is somewhat wide open since HP is already qualified. Brookhaven has to be an early favorite but they look to be light on singles although they have two unknowns on the roster so that might help them. Brighton isn't a bad addition and might be able to keep Cliff and William in doubles where they are much more dangerous. I find it hard to get excited about the other two country club teams (CC and Eldorado) LBH Jones coming back to 4.0 should be interesting and I think they will do well. The mystery will be how the splitting of the OC teams will work out. They all seem to be evenly balanced and all pretty good but are any of them deep enough to make it through a regular season at the top. TBar is so deep they have to be dangerous each week and I think they and BH will finish behind HP in this flight
Flight B
HP/Bazan (SWAT) (Fall runner-up)
CC/Aarts
Garland/Sisk (Only lost to HP/Bob and OC last season)
Village/Gordon
LBH/Parsons
BH/Bartlett
Lakes (Spring and Fall DCC)
Stonebridge
Eldorado/Browning
Oakridge
I guess the SWAT team and Durdy Garland would have to be the favs here. I am rooting for John so it will be tough to be in the same flight but luckily there is more than one spot to take. Brookhaven has missed out on the playoffs the last two go arounds but is still strong. The Lakes has lost a lot of players and I am not sure how they will recover but they still have some good options. Stonebridge has been on a little decline mainly due to singles play but there doubles teams much like BH will make them a threat to the top two. I think this is the stronger Eldorado team but the roster seems a little small to make a serious run week in and week out. The rest of this flight seems a little inexperienced at this level but I will not underestimate any of them. Good luck to flight B.
Flight C
Garland/Sisk 2
JCC
Village/Johnson
LBH/Hicks (Spring QT)
BH/Pearlman (Fall DCC)
HP/Harrigan
GH/Arnette (Spring and Fall DCC)
OC/Smith 2
CC/Charb..
Royal Oaks
This one is hard to call. I guess BH has to be the favorite although Renwick is not on the roster quite yet and that would make them a solid fav in this flight but even without them they are pretty solid. GH will always be in the mix and LBH might not be the same without Ratana and Walker. I like the Village who narrowly missed making it to the Fall DCC. They have some good doubles but will need to improve in singles this season to make a run at the top. Royal Oaks is the wildcard team here. They have a great 4.5 team but how will this venture to 4.0 go, I have a feeling they will do well but it will also come down to singles if they wish to have a great first season. The rest of this crew doesn't get me all that excited although since there is no dominant team here past BH, 2nd and 3rd place could be taken by just about any of these teams if things fall right for them.
Flight D
LBH/Au
Springpark/Walters (Spring DCC winner, sectional finalist)
OC/Smith (Fall DCC, most of them...)
Stonebriar
Garland/Brueckner
LTF (Spring and Fall DCC)
Stonebridge
ELTC/Loyd
GEagles
Thorntree
Team Eddie should bounce back strong although no Tikashi or Forrest from the last two season and those two were big components of their team but hopefully Eddie will be back on the court. OC should be good but some of their big guns are on the other team so who knows. Garland has some solid talent that didn't end up with Big John so I think they will be tough. Springpark has the usual suspects back and I am guessing Mitch will be joining the crew very soon since he was downrated. The rest of the teams are somewhat new but I am not quite sure I see anything on their rosters...yet...that could trouble the top teams in this flight.
I am looking forward to some real tennis very soon. I will update again once we know some more on the 4.0 league.
I heard that Big John Sisk threw SNOTjock Delira off his 4.0 team. SNOTjock was arrogant and always whining and nobody liked him.
ReplyDeleteSNOTjock ended up with Steve Brueckner's 4.0 team. Hopefully Steve will be better able to tolerate SNOTman.
HP/Somabut is in a nice position. They can manage scores and tank matches as much as they want and they still have a spot reserved in the City playoffs.
ReplyDeleteWith our "watered down" playoffs they may have to only play a couple matches for real prior to Sectionals.
What a system!
I don't want to speak for Jacques or John but I doubt it went down like that. It is a blessing and a curse to have a big group of players. A blessing on Sunday afternoon and Feb but when you have to create teams, you can't have 29 players on one team. OC now has this issue as well. My theory is if I have a player who would play line 3 most of the time their money and time would be better put to use being on a team where they could play line 2 or line 1 occasionally and get better matches. Take me for instance I am line 8 on my team right now and if I had more free time on the weekends I would definitely play on another team and still captain the SWAT team.
ReplyDeleteJust my thoughts.
Who can blame Jacques for for wanting to get out of Garland,
ReplyDeleteHe got tired of the gun shots in the parking lot.
I wonder if those DTA pricks are going to give us a round robin 4.0 City Playofff this year? Last year sucked.
ReplyDeleteGood point by Cary,
ReplyDeleteHe is a pretty weak 4.0 player.
And relegated to a pine rider.
But it's no fun being on a 0 - 9 team either. even if you get to play every week.
I think the 3 OC teams are an effort to spread the playing time around.
That is probably a good thing to do in the fall, but in the spring you need to bring it.
I would watch out for OC, I assume if they have that many players the "A Team" probably is pretty refined.
Come on Cary, if you are going to have a 4.5 team this year then you need to act like a 4.5 player. That thread should have come first!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be great losing all my matches , and still being in the city playoffs. My record this season will ensure me at least 2-3 more seasons at 4.0.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else wish the criminals in Garland would quit carrying guns and just use Napalm? That would bring an end to the endless Garland complaining. Also, they might go find a better facility.
ReplyDeleteThe Garland facility is actually one of the better facilities, just the neighborhood sucks.
ReplyDeleteCourts were just resurfaced last year and every court has water.
What's a bigger sham Cary's 4.5 team
ReplyDeleteor
Oakridge Prather's 4.0 team
we are awful, can we get a 4-0 headstart in all our matches please?
ReplyDeletedo you think HP/Bob will keep enough players to get their auto berth. That means bringing guys back that most likely would never play. They already have 4 new players, will they have 20 total or more?
ReplyDeleteThe Prather 4.0 team would lose badly to the LTF 3.5 team. Weird isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYes! Very weird!!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to having at least 50% of players at level?
ReplyDeleteWhat bad luck. Being in the same division as LTF/Eddie. Is it too early to concede? When we play them can we institute the no one under 50 rule?
ReplyDeleteOr if you're under 50 you have to drink 6 beers during the match (so I can get Mitch in).
SP Jim
Anons are just demented. You can't please them. Either you have a team full of ringers and sandbaggers or your team is so bad that they should not be playing at the given level and they cite the 50% rule. Screw Em.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that HP/Somabut, HP Bazan and OC Smith will be strong again this year but I'm going with The Stoners/Muetzel. This guy must have hired a professional recruiter. No one will touch this team!!!
ReplyDeleteOak Ridges 3.5 team will take care of Lifetime Fitness just like they have in the past. With the 4.0 players it would a real cremation. So whatever ANON posted that you dont know what your talking about!!!!
ReplyDeleteMake sure and get Mitch into as many matches as possible. He was awsome last year when it counted.
ReplyDeleteLet's not re-write history. Oakridge did NOT "take care of" LTF last year. Our LTF 3.5 team beat Oakridge in the QT so Oakridge did not even make it to the City Championship. By the way our LTF 3.5 team won the City Championship last year.
ReplyDeleteNo question LTF 3.5 could beat Prather's 4.0 team this year. Prather's team is almost exclusively 3.5 players _ not as good as LTF.
so?
ReplyDelete'The Garland facility is actually one of the better facilities, just the neighborhood sucks.'
ReplyDeleteBetter facilities??? Damn, where do you play that Garland looks good? Samuell Grand? Kiest?
Jacques is a great guy and friend. He will get more playing time on Steve's team. I told him, he's always welcome on any team of mine. He is practicing/league/drills alot and will get to the next tier.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, Tq and Doug are still on terms, just ONE TENNIS FAMILY. I hope Cary and I advance to the post season.
Sisk
Lifetime beat Oak Ridge 1 of the three matches played in the past if not for #1 singles player cramping in the deciding match lifetime would have lost 3-2 in QT. Any time Lifetimes 3.5 team wants a match with Oak Ridges 4.0 team lets set it up with 1 of Oak Ridges Captains since they are teammates. Settle this on the court and not with lifetimes B.S.One of the Oak Ridge Players!!!
ReplyDeleteLifetime Fitness is always the most OVERRATED team in Dallas League Play.
ReplyDeleteLifetime beat Oak Ridge 1 of the three matches played in the past if not for #1 singles player cramping in the deciding match lifetime would have lost 3-2 in QT. ReplyDeleteHackberry Roussow is very underated. They will beat plenty of teams because they dont talk smack and jsut play.
ReplyDeleteBTW, HP Somebutt will be letting all the newbies and scrubs play to manage ratings. There lower tiered players can beat HP SWAT and the top teams easy.
Just look at the FAll championship. 5-0.
Really … I feel bad about the entire situation. Over all, I love Jacques. He does have a cute ass and it’s smaller than mine. Really … Jacques was a cancer to the team last year. Some bad things were said and I felt he kicked me in the sack once to many times. Jacques had to go. I wish him well. If he can get his head screwed on straight, he would be one hell of a tennis player. I know what it takes to put together a winning team. I have done it in the past and I will do it again.
ReplyDeleteSisk
Regarding facilities (excluding the private clubs), I easily rate Garland over HP (aka Windy City; aka Cancer City with all their electricity poles hovering above) and LBH where you are more likely to be shot from the gun range down the street.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is both those facilities rape you and force you to buy beverages from them rather than perform the simple chore of providing water coolers on the court. That is a major grading curve for me.
Dude – Please get a grip and work on your game. Don’t be a puss. You sound like one of the TCD MILFs.
ReplyDeleteSNOTjock Delirais is so arrogant that no one can stomach him for very long.
ReplyDelete- former teammate
LTF beat Oakridge last year in the only match that counted. Quit making excuses and trying to re-write history.
ReplyDeleteBill Kaiser
Yes, Sisk lost to High Point (Somabut) and Oak Creek (Smith) last season. Everyone else in the flight sucked. It Sisk’s team was worth a crap, they would have beat both High Pont and Oak Creek. You have got to win the big matches!
ReplyDeleteSNOTjock Delirais is the best and everyone else sucks! Just ask him! He has a huge ego. It can get really embarrassing with SNOTjock on the team. Several times while playing away matches, he has embarrassed everyone on the court with his language and on going bullshit of throwing stuff around. The guy really needs to take some time off and maybe see a doctor. I believe the guy may be on something. He has huge personality swings. One of these days, he’s going to seriously hurt someone.
ReplyDeleteSNOTjock has the emotional maturity of a 3 year old
ReplyDeleteAnonymous has less emptional maturity than Delira. I should know
ReplyDeleteHow come OC BL's logs are always much cooler and fancier than Cary's? I think he has upped it to a new level.
ReplyDeleteMy mother read all the post about me and said "tell all the babies to take an aeronautical seduction into a flying donut hole!
ReplyDeleteI am awesome! So awesome I am going to carry Steve's team to the playoffs by playing both line one and line two singles side by side at the same time. Yes, Garland is the best with the best players and facilities in the world! How dare you call me arrogant that is way below how I view myself! I am superlicious and magically delicious! Have fun this season and remember to post more about me! Because, the blog is only about me and only me and not about league tennis!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMarch 17 8:22 PM post is not by Bill Kaiser
ReplyDeleteI just happened to check the 4.0 blog and saw that post. I do not sign my post that way.
Secondly, I have no input on that match because I was not on that team. That was Ferrell's 3.5 team from last year conisting of completely different players than what I have.
It is a shame that you now can't trust what you read because some ANON has to go and make bogus posts under someone else's name. Identity theft on the blog!!!
I guess I will have to start tagging my posts with a picture of a super hero or a big chested woman like Bazan and OC BL do to keep from being impersonated !!
What a worthless Anon --posting under someone elses' identity.
kaiser
O.K. -- I'm now tech savy...no more bogus posts using my name
ReplyDeletekaiser
Kaiser is not gay, but you anons that keep using sick pics are. Save the skimpy shots for the privacy of your bedroom, we don't need them on a tennis blog, but that must be all you can get, pics.
ReplyDelete"skimpy shots"
ReplyDeleteWhat did they have back in your day Gramps,
They show some ankle,
Go back to the old folks home!
It is a shame that it has to come to that Bill but it happens to everybody. Good luck this season.
ReplyDeleteTo 8:09 poster, if I was that old I'd be happy to go to get away from pervs like you, but I'm far from that old, except what you bring is way too old. It's been around from ancient times, you're just too sick to realize it.
ReplyDeleteYep my 4.0 team stinks. We had 2 losses, that killed us. I stink even worse. How were the rest of the categories, games lost? individual wins? sets won? How did we do?
ReplyDeleteSisk
Kaiser – You’re getting ahead of yourself. Way over your head. S l o w d o w n. Just focus and apply yourself to the 3.0 and 3.5 level.
ReplyDeleteSisk – The bottom line is that your 4.0 team last season just sucked. Last season is history! Don’t worry about it. You already have enough pressure on your shoulders, with your health, your relationship with Nancy and find additional ringers. On a serious note, has the Doc cleared you for the upcoming season? Have you been able to get your blood pressure and weight down? When I ran into you the other day at 7-11, I couldn’t believe the amount of weight you lost. Keep up the good work! It will pay off 10 fold. With the reduction in weight, you’ll live longer and be able to whip up on those ratty sandbaggers & ringers.
ReplyDeleteRe: OC BL
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. Marc is awesome and I am more than thankful to have him around. Trust me if it wasn't for the google help this site would look awful. I am a creative minded person but not technically minded.
BTW Garland is pretty good, they lost to the same two teams we lost to all Fall season and I don't think anyone would say our team sux?!
Oh well an anon would say it but he wouldn't mean it, ok he probably would.
Well so much for Kaiser telling us a couple of days ago that would be the last we heard from him... he seems to be obsessed with the blog and reading his own name. If he only worked on his tennis game as much as he gets on this blog he might actually be a ligit 3.5 instead of the 3.0 that he is.
ReplyDeletekaiser is really a piece of work. the better you no him the more u dislike him.
ReplyDeleteLTF 3.5 player
I really don't mind The Anons signing other peoples names at the end of posts. I think it's funny.
ReplyDeleteWhen does the season start?
ReplyDelete(y),
ReplyDeleteAlex, send me an e-mail so I can have your contact info. gregwiley2000@yahoo.com
Thanks
Yes, Kaiser is a real piece of work!!!!! He’s a wacko!
ReplyDelete"(y),
ReplyDeleteAlex, send me an e-mail so I can have your contact info. gregwiley2000@yahoo.com
Thanks"
I will
Anyone notice how badly the 4.5 flights came out? See the 4.5 blog. THE TOP THREE TEAMS FROM 2008 ARE ALL IN THE SAME FLIGHT IN 2009!
ReplyDeleteWhen the 4.0 and 3.5 flights were messed up in the past some of the 4.5 guys poked fun. Now they don't like it when their 4.5 flights are screwed up.
Y has the coolest picture on the blog
ReplyDeleteActually I haven't heard anybody in the 4.5 league complaining, only anons. Me, Cary, and Todd have all posted that we have no issues.
ReplyDeleteCorey doesnt have any issues because his team is in the weak Flight 4.5B. The teams with issues are those "on the bubble" teams in the stronger Flight A. Some of those teams would make the playoffs in Flight B but will be not make the playoffs in Flight A _ because it is so much stronger.
ReplyDeleteCary doesnt care because his team wont win a match in either flight.
If you aren't good enough to make the playoffs in Flight A, you weren't going past cities anyway so what does it matter?
ReplyDeleteMy point is it DOES matter to the players on a team which would make the playoffs in flight B but not make the playoffs in flight A. Even if the team does not make Sectionals _ still fun to play the cities.
ReplyDeleteIt’s the luck of the draw! Season after season you see many of the same players and many of the same players playing on the same teams. Ok, one variable that you can control is the roster of your own team. Build a team of players that can go out and beat the same old teams / guys that have been winning in the past. Here is the good old USA, one can make choices and do things within the rules and laws of society. Build a team that has the capabilities to whip up on everyone in Dallas. If you can whip up on everyone in Dallas, take the team to the sectional tournament. In order to build a team with this ability, it takes some work. Most people are too lazy and aren’t willing to do anything extra for them or for others. You have to get up off your ass, put together a target list of good players, start making some phone calls to potential players, educate the players on what your trying to do and persuade them to join the team, coordinate some team practices, understand the strengths and weaknesses of your players, work on different line ups, account for people being sick, family or business obligations that come, unsure that everyone on the team gets enough playing time throughout the season, understand your competition, ……..
ReplyDeleteMy team would win it all if it wasn't for the DTA, cheating captains, sanbaggers, ringers, and unfair determination of the flights. If only the usta would move all the good players up to 4.5 then my team of average spares would dominate.
ReplyDeleteLUCK OF THE DRAW???
ReplyDeleteIt is NOT "luck of the draw" _ you stupid ass.
That's the whole point. WE DO NOT HAVE A DRAW. All teams are placed into flights by an 80 year retarded lady _ rather than a random draw that is traditional in tennis. NOTHING IS DONE BY RANDOM DRAW.
Seed a few teams and placed the rest by random draw and nobody should have any problems. (Just like what is done for tournaments.)
No one person should place ALL the teams wherever she wants them to be. That's NOT a draw. That's incompetence.
I never complain about sandbaggers, ringers, cheating captains. We all play by the same rules.
ReplyDeleteI do think the placement of teams into flights by the DTA is very poorly handled _ and that's why we have a big imbalance between our flights in level 4.5 this year. (The top 3 teams from last year are all in Flight A.) And we've had problems in the past at level 4.0 and 3.5.
I never use that as an excuse for losing. But its not rocket science. Why not do it correctly???
LUCK of the Draw?
ReplyDeleteNo luck is involved
No draw takes place
Who cares what flight you are put in. If your team is good it will advance. I can't believe how many grown men act like 2 year olds on this blog.
ReplyDeleteId like to see us go back to a round robin 4.0 city championship this year. Anyone heard anything about that? I guess that's another issue that the DTA doesnt care what we want.
ReplyDeleteThe participating (across the board) in the tournament at the Village was very piss poor.
ReplyDeleteOnly people in ice cream trucks that come to your neighborhood care about what you want. Everyone else just wants your $$$.
ReplyDeleteSo Alex (-Y-), what 4.0 team are you going to end up on? Please tell me you aren't seriously considering still playing 3.5.
ReplyDeleteBender, I played your 3.0 player in the 4.5 Ultimate Singles league Saturday. I guess he was moved up, cause he got to the finals of the 4.0 Ultimate singles league last season. Have fun in Nationals.
ReplyDeleteI think we have way more 4.0 teams than any city in Texas. Makes for an interesting season.
ReplyDeleteDespite havings some stars bumped up a level it looks like Somabut has re-loaded and should be the best team again in 4.0. Plus he does not have to use his best players until the city championship.
ReplyDeleteWho can challenge the Somabut train?
ReplyDeleteSomabut's team looks pretty good. They will have
ReplyDeleteCarlquist
Weymer (Self Rate and a USPTA Pro--SuperChamp player in 2000 to 2002, I have a feeling other teams will be concerned with this guy)
Kemps
Brouer
Robinson
Shaw
Smith
Talliat
I would guess Talliat will play singles and I would guess Weymer would be the other.
I just do not see this team losing.
The scary part is that amy not even be their A lineup.
ReplyDeleteIf your not Somabut, your playing for 2nd this year.
ReplyDeleteThey had too few bump ups, and too many bump downs. They should be able to easily destroy everyone and make it to Nationals, where... they will get pummeled.
So if you are an outstanding 4.0 player you need to find a way to get on Somabut's team _ if you are interested in playing Sectionals and Nationals.
ReplyDelete4.0 players need not apply to Somabut.
ReplyDeleteunrated 4.5+ players apply to Bob Somabut
ReplyDeleteHP will easily advance to sectionals and they will do well at sectionals but they are not a legitimate contender for nationals.
ReplyDeleteHP will lose Sectionals again this year if Somabut continues to screw up his line-ups. Too many time he uses weak, back-up players and gets his team beat while his top guns are watching from the sideline. He confuses competitive tennis with social tennis. You cant do both.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Somabut makes the same mistake again. This team looks at least as good as last years and they don't have to contend with Gene Davis. Depending on what the other cities put to together, I think Somabut looks like a good chance to get to Nats. They probably go nowhere once they get there.
ReplyDeleteGene Davis had nothing to do with HP's advancement (or lack thereof) last year. There will always be plenty of Gene Davis types at sectionals.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of if HP wins Sectionals it is just plain wrong to blame it on Bob. He is a good guy and an excellent captain. The players have to be healthy, in shape, and play well. The captain goes with the facts he has at the time. Facts you don't have.
ReplyDeleteWith as much as Bob has accomplished and as many players as he has been involved with you really don't hear much negative about him. Even on this silly blog. I think that says something.
I do think HP wins Sectionals this year. Things are set up well for them and they are at least a strong favorite. I wish I still was a part of it.
Ex HP/Somabut guy
Yea, I think Somabut has learned from his past line-up screw ups and hopefully those will not re-occur. Good luck HP!
ReplyDelete"So Alex (-Y-), what 4.0 team are you going to end up on? Please tell me you aren't seriously considering still playing 3.5."
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to try to play on a lifetime 4.0 team if they let me.
Y – Go back into your cage! Please don’t come back out until you change your pic!
ReplyDelete"Gene Davis had nothing to do with HP's advancement (or lack thereof) last year. There will always be plenty of Gene Davis types at sectionals."
ReplyDeleteThere will not be plenty of Gene Davis types... even at Sectionals, but you are right in that it had nothing to do with Gene. They lost to someone else.
Lets get a poll going as to who would win in a head to head match up between Sisk 4.0 team (almost all 3.5 players) vs. Prathers "4.0" team of 3.5ers... My pick would be Sisk!
ReplyDeleteSisk would win _ not even close!
ReplyDeleteSisk has the better team but Prather would beat Sisk in singles (*_*)
ReplyDeletePrathers team against Sisks Team you got to be kidding. Prathers Oak Ridge 4.0 team will be lucky to WIn 1 match. They Stink!!!!
ReplyDeletePrather has 15 guys on his 4.0 team. Howver only FOUR have 4.0 ratings. All the rest are 3.5. This hurts our league because these guys are not 4.0 players and it will not be any fun to play them.
ReplyDeleteI thought there was some kind of rule against this.
Prather has met the rule. You only need 4 people on the roster at the level at which you are playing.
ReplyDeleteOver in the 3.5 thread people bitch about 3.5 players not playing up to the 4.0 level,
ReplyDeleteIn the 4.0 thread 4.0 players bitch out 3.5 players playing up,
Apparently you just can't win.
We don't mind 3.5 players playing up if they are good. If they can win some matches at 4.0 I don't think anyone has a problem with that. If they get blown out each week it's not fun for them or us.
ReplyDelete3.5 guys are a bunch of whinners. But there are some very weak 3.5s playing 4,0 just for a kick. And thats no fun for real 4.0 players.
ReplyDeletemy understanding was 50% or even 60% had to be at level. I am working to get my 4.5 team to that level and I with our final sign ups we should be there. I do that for not only the rule but for good competition for the other teams.
ReplyDeletegood for you caped crusader. now get back to the bat cave.
ReplyDeleteHey ANON 5:37 Look at last years Garlands Sisk 4.0 team 2 they only had 1 4.0 player on it WTF???? There is no rule. You guys bitch about people playing up and when they do they are not good enough!!! Make up your mind DUMBASSES. One of the Crappy Players.
ReplyDeletemaybe i'll get a bunch of 3.0 players and form a 4.5 team. we'll take on oc/branch just for the hell of it.
ReplyDeleteThat 50% thing is not an official rule. There were two 4.5 teams last season with less than half 4.5s and they were still allowed to play.
ReplyDeleteThere’s no hard rule only a recommend rule (50%) on the number of players on a roster that has to have the NTRP rating of the team. The DTA and USTA should enforce the rule and bump up the percentage to 75%.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a little bogus going out on a Saturday or Sunday to play your league match and you whip up on your opponent …and find out they’re a 3.5. It’s just a waste of time.
It’s great that guys like Sisk and Prather want to captain a 4.0 team. I would just like to see them work a little harder at recruiting 4.0 players. As of right now, their taking the easy way out and just getting their old 3.5 players from their old teams to play up. It’s great for the 3.5 guys, they get an extra match in on the weekend, but it sucks for their 4.0 opponents.
The 4.0 teams that are made up of mostly 3.5 have a tendency towards the middle and end of the season, having a difficult time in getting enough players to even play. It really sucks to show up somewhere to only learn the other team doesn’t have enough players.
At the end of the day, it just hurts everyone.
The 4.0 Captains need to let their voices be heard by calling Jane at the DTA about the issue.
If you’re a 3.5 player playing up, you need to play your ass off. If you’re not willing to play your ass off, then stay at the 3.5 level until you can get bumped. Please don’t waste anyone’s time.
ReplyDeleteyea those 3.5 bitches are ruining the 4.0 competition
ReplyDeleteAll of you guys bitch and moan about all the 3.5 sandbaggers and then bitch and moan some more when they play on a 4.0 team.Shut the hell up or leave them alone until they get bumped by the computer. A 3.5 player playing up like all you compainers complain about.Make up your mind or leave us alone. From a Crappy 3.5 player.
ReplyDeleteHow about a poll???
ReplyDeleteRound Robin City Playoff for level 4.0 vs two-division approach???
Screw the poll!
ReplyDeleteThis David Prather is a real trouble maker. He or his teams caused a lot of shit at the 3.5 level and now he’s starting a 4.0 team. Prather isn’t starting out on a very good foot with his new 4.0 team. At just about every match at the 3.5 level, one or some of his players would get into an altercation or cause some kind of shit right before, during or after a match. Prather needs to say no to his 3.5 buddies and get out their and recruit some real 4.0 players.
ReplyDeleteDavid Prather is a good guy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with those guys wanting a RR playoff. Why not a poll?
What name is the blog going to give to 3.5's that are playing up at 4.0?
ReplyDeleteSome of them get called sandbaggers for playing 3.5 and then criticized for playing 4.0.
Should the blog comment on whether a 3.5 is justified to play 4.0?
3.5s playing 4.0 suck
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of 4.0s watering down the 4.5s. Grow up.
ReplyDeletesame issue. not much fun for legit 4.5 players to play 4.0 types
ReplyDelete3.5 guys can play up to the 4.0 level. If they do, they need to kick some ass. If they don’t have the skill set and really don’t challenge their opponent, then they need to step down. There are a lot of guys that are really good at the 3.5 level. Unfortunately they just don’t have the necessary strokes or development needed in order for them to stay or move up within the 4.0 level. An example of this is Enrique Molina. Enrique had dominated the 3.5 level for the last few years. But he can’t get him self bumped up do to his shitty league play and shitty strokes. His current strokes will only take him so far.
ReplyDeleteRe: Houston's Gallery Major Zone 4.0 Draw--117 People.
ReplyDeleteThat might be the biggest 4.0 Draw that I have ever seen.

ReplyDeletehouston draws are posted
ReplyDeleteThey won't be posted till next week.
ReplyDelete117 is not the biggest. The 4.0 draw had 141 a few years ago. 8 matches to win the title.
ReplyDeleteHouston used to have almost full 256 draws for the 4.0
ReplyDeleteDraw sizes for the Coke/Gallery Furniture in 4.0 Singles
ReplyDelete2008 - 114
2007 - 110
2006 - 86
2005 - 119
2004 - 130
2003 - 146 (Corey lost 4 and 4 in the quarters to the eventual winner after a bye and 3 victories)
2004 was the last time a non-Houston area player won the title.
Even the sandbagger Kern couldn't win the 4.0 Coke.
