OC/ Feldman v. Royal Oaks
Two solid teams match up to see who will start at the top.
Springpark v. Branch
Obviously Branch would be a fav but an early upset might make Springpark a player in this flight.
Village v. DFW
DFW had some good additions but not sure if they are good enough to hang with Corey's group.
T Bar v. OC/Bovermann
I think this might be the best match. Bovermann has a good group of players to choose from against a good T Bar team.
I was surprised to see the Oak Creek A lineup this past weekend. Maybe they will play their best guys all season. I'm impressed with Springpark's roster to potentially make the playoffs, but not to compete with Branch this week.
ReplyDeleteI am worried about DFW because they have a couple of really strong singles players which always makes a big impact.
I agree with the post about T Bar being too high in the rankings. They lost their top two players and, unless they added some new players of similar caliber, they might struggle this season. They did add one of my strong doubles players which will help.
Brookhaven always looks great on paper. They were 5-0 last season and lost three matches in a row I think. With their roster they should have been in the playoffs.
OC/ Feldman v. Royal Oaks
ReplyDeleteFeldman probably takes this 3-2, if Molina, Bui, Rauschuber play, if one of the 3 does not play then could be a 4-1 win for Feldman. One to watch would be a Durten/Molina singles match. Not much depth for either team. Feldman or Zimmerman could be other singles players.
Springpark v. Branch
Branch should some out blazing and win 5-0, but do not be surprised if there are a few third set TB losses making this 4-1 or 3-2.
Village v. DFW
Village should win 4-1 or 3-2, Huffman and Walker will be tough nuts to crack but will give Village the edge.
T Bar v. OC/Bovermann
I think this might be the best match.
Should be very close but T-Bar is strong every year and always on the cusp of city championship and battles to the end with an experienced team.
OC Feldman v. Royal Oaks is like a playoff match in one of the first weeks of the season. Could end up being the battle for 2nd place in this division.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to LB Houston? After OC Branch and OC/Conway/Feldman- LB probably won more matches than any team over the last 5 years in 4.5. They were the 3rd best team in the Fall and almost always made the play-offs.
In those matches listed- the winners will be OC Feldman, OC Branch, Village and TBar. You gotta like these early season testers to see where the teams stand. so much falls to who the captain can get out to play.
yep LB looks to be disbanded some wen to Bovermann and others with Noel.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Rob didn't want to captain anymore (I'm starting to see why) so he brought some guys over to my team. Springpark has some strong players so I'm intrigued by that matchup.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you will see Durten in singles unless his knee has improved. I like Feldman, Branch in a close match, Village in a close match, and Bovermann in an upset.
Noel/Sisk 10-0 on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked by the two results posted so far today in my flight. T Bar crushes Bovermann 5-0. I thought Bovermann would be a top contender in the flight. Also, I though Kirby's team was much improved this season. They didn't show it in a loss to Collin County/Aud today 4-1. Now I really don't know who to worry about.
ReplyDeleteFear TBar! I really missed it on DFW in the top 10. Any time you default 2 lines and can only get 5 people on the court, you get banned from the top 10. The TBar over OC Boverman score is a shocker at 5-0. What is crazy about that is that OC Boverman lost all 6 breakers. Advice to OC Boverman's team- work on the Coman!
ReplyDeletethat is a surprising result, I knew TBar was good but yikes. Also shocked by the HP result, not that I thought they were going to dominate but I thought they would win. Only win came from new 4.0 player Blumberg and Kaz.
ReplyDeleteCurious to know the Feldman score, anyone??
Branch's team squeaks by Springpark as predicted. Not enough depth for the Springpark to keep up it seems, although I think they could have had a better lineup. I don't know why other teams haven't posted scores. Isn't there a 12-hour rule?
ReplyDeleteyep but there is no penalty, usually by Monday or late today all the scores will be posted. off to my match now.
ReplyDeleteJust saw that OC Feldman beat RO's 3-2. Molina didn't play for RO's so that coulda been a big factor.
ReplyDeletehmm so much for Durten hurting, beat a very good Rauschuber in straights. Molina probably would have made the difference either in singles or doubles.
ReplyDeleteScore of Branch not to bad, not overly surprised to see Stone/slezak lose against a veteran tandem.
Note on Aud: Interesting Tandem playing Line #1 for Kirby, played HS Tennis against Phy and Jean, so good to see them still playing. (PSHS/PESH pairing could never work though : ) )
Yeah, maybe Kevin is healthy again. He is definitely not a 4.5 singles player. As predicted, without Molina Royal Oaks is beatable. Who is Henry Juan Gonzalez? Andre hardly ever loses and I've never seen him lose like that.
ReplyDeleteAnybody know the Canyon Creek v. Hackberry outcome?
ReplyDeleteAR_Hacker,
ReplyDeleteYou ARE correct, PESH and Plano West evidently do still fight against each other as they lost a close match. Corey/Cary, I did have hopes to start out with a win, thought it was almost a lock, but I had 1 broken racket, 3 or 4 bouts of cramping, and 1 had to quit at 8-9 in the 3rd set breaker, complaints of some serious hooking on line calls, one person hungover, and then today at practice one guy actually asked, "This was just a scrimmage, right?" ha! Nope, told him that was the week before. Yeah, the team played like it was a scrimmage, maybe week "1" we will be better.
Kirby
Lots of score management & tanking going on!
ReplyDeleteNancy Noel still sucks
