Halftime Break
So it's pretty slow. The 40s/55s season is just getting started. Tri-level sectionals is a full month away. Hell, it was COLD on Saturday and windy on Sunday. Not exactly my favorite tennis weather either way. As much as people can take a dim view of nationals on this blog, I have a feeling many of us will be watching another group of amateurs compete in the national finals tonight.
I'm a college football fan and this promises to be as good a game as last year. At least for the state of Texas tennis, this Freeman versus...uh...well, whoever from Dallas is trying to dethrone him this year.
Yes, I do see a few similarities in the USTA tennis scene and college football. A version of amateur athletics, lots of recruiting, a few rules violations, underperformers, overachievers, I could go on and on. Throw in one Lane Kiffin per major market and you have plenty to keep Todd Reed fully employed.
So, dynasty or new kids on the Power 5 block? What's it gonna be?

Go Cowboy's
ReplyDeleteFreeman didn't do shit last year and Dallas will dominate him at Tri-Level again.
ReplyDeleteDown goes Frazier
ReplyDeleteDallas wins nothing this year except for 3.0. Time to rebuild. Dallas will enjoy Tri Level and won't have any firepower for the summer.
ReplyDeleteWhich blogger is Sweeeeeeney? Anyone else notice that he is picking up guys from other teams?
ReplyDeleteTired of Austin embarrassing us.
DeleteIf you have won tri level you should not be able to play for 5 years, if you have won it twice you should be suspended
ReplyDeleteWhat if you win it three times?
ReplyDeleteNobody has won it twice, not even Freeman or any of his tankers so I don't think I would worry about anyone getting three!! Once is tough but twice would be impossible, three will never happen. You would have a better chance getting struck by lightning
ReplyDeleteSisk will do it this year!!!! Mark it down!!! Best Sisk team ever!!!
ReplyDeletesounds like its time for a tri-level preview. who's the best competition across that state?
ReplyDeleteTri level sucks and is too expensive. I was asked to play but passed. The chances of winning it all are extremely low and I have better things to do with $5k
ReplyDelete$5k? It's more like $1500 and you get to play during a professional tournament. You get to meet pro players and have fun in California. It's a mini vacation. Not to bad.
DeleteTri-level sectionals schedule was released Friday by Houston and Fort Worth. Dallas has Lubbock, Austin, San Antonio and NOHO (the good Houston team) in its flight. The other flight has Houston, FW, SETX, NETX and Wild SA, relatively weak by comparison. Looks like USTA Austin stacked the deck this year.
ReplyDeleteHouston and Dallas in the finals like always.
DeleteDo your homework. The Houston team sucks this year. The talent is playing out of NOHO.
DeleteSo Dallas vs WHOville in finals...
ReplyDeleteDallas and NOHO are in the same flight so Dallas Houston in the finals.
ReplyDeleteMust be a Houston guy on our blog if he thinks that Houston team will win the flight.
ReplyDeleteTeam Arcaria to tri-level finals?
