The season is over and after a week long bitchfest about the DTA, the season is over. All of the ones that matter have been decided. The QT is coming up and it appears to be a very eventful one.
First, let me congratulate the flight winner:
4.5
JCC Reiman (Favorite to advance to sectionals)
Greenhill Rossouw (After the stumble, he came back strong and edged out Brookhaven by 1 line)
Village Warren (Edged out Brookhaven by 1 line)
4.0
High Point Somabut (Never appeared threatened and favorite to make it to sectionals)
Fretz Clark (Death flight was very tight and 4 teams had over 30 lines won but Fretz came through)
Village Gordon (Not really threatened lost last match but it was already decided, probable Wildcard to Sectionals)
Brookhaven Bartlett (In the participation trophy flight, BH wins on tiebreaks after being tied with two other teams.)
Congratulations but the real season begins. Pre-season is over boys.
I will make a QT analysis when the DTA puts out the flights and formats. Can't prognosticate without seeing the schedules.
Best of Luck as my boys that had high hopes showed little fight. I'll just be a spectator. :(
All you could say? What about Klamecki leaving?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Klamecki leaving? Did he really leave or was he asked to leave?
DeleteAnyone know if he is really gone? Why is Erin gone too?
DeleteJCC is a huge favorite in 4.5. GH is second.
ReplyDelete4.0 is tough to pick. Go with Somabut too.
Klamechi is gone. Erin left on her own.
ReplyDeleteHow is it the women's level are sold out on combo and the men hardly have anyone playing? In 6.5 through 8.5 the women have 38 teams and the men have 10.
ReplyDeleteCombo is a waste of time!! Has anyone mens team from Dallas ever even made it to sectionals???
ReplyDeleteDallas sends a team to sectionals at every level every year. That's the way the playoffs work, win cities go to sectionals. Clearly you've never been in the playoffs of anything.
DeleteWhat about nationals?
DeleteOnly 2 teams in 8.5 but lots of pussies in 7.5
Dallas won it in 2012 and a tiebreak from winning it in 2013. Sisk puts together a good team w Kelley as his ace. Kelley never list a match in two years in combo. If you think combo is a waste of time you prob have never played or one of Kelley's many victims.
DeleteCombo doesn't even have a Nationals tournament. The teams have won Sectionals, but that is as far as Combo goes, so no one has ever sent a team to Nationals in Combo.
DeleteAs I said, Kelly will never win a national title in combo!
DeleteDon't tell Kelly that. Saw a Combo Nationals Champion Trophy in his office.
DeleteHe is only undefeated in combo bec I haven't played combo.
DeleteDallas did not win it all in 2012???!! They only won sectionals
ReplyDeleteTo 11:41
ReplyDeleteI know Dallas sends a team to sectionals but the topic is combo. I am saying Kelly has never won a national title in combo! Someone blogged he won it in 2012 and that was incorrect. He only won sectionals.
I am saying he is not solid enough to carry a 4.0 to a national title in combo!!
ReplyDeletethere are no nationals for combo...it stops at sectionals...
ReplyDeleteThen he cannot carry a 4.0 to sectional title!
ReplyDeleteHe already has
DeleteWhy is there a chick captaining a team in combo? DTA probably put her in the wrong place. DTA usually screws pretty much everything up.
ReplyDeleteI like Tridib's team at QT. Would have been flight winner if not for the DQ. It is what you get for blatantly cheating.
ReplyDeleteThat's What we do here at hookhaven
ReplyDeleteJust when u thought you had seen it all. Dunlop has asked the TTA to pick one player from each of the major cities in Texas who has had great league success to use their rackets and apparrel for a year. Incredibly Kelly was picked out of Dallas for 2015 to use their brand. Let's see how long that lasts.
ReplyDeleteI was asked first but passed on it. Too many events and side endorsements they wanted me to make.
DeleteUntrue. And he was already using Dunlop rackets. So don't try to point that out as evidence.
DeleteI was asked as well but my sparking record of never winning a league match was a deterrent.
DeleteHope Dunlop has deep pockets if Kelley starts smashing rackets. Ha ha
ReplyDeleteI have seen him play mind games but have never seen him smash a racket. Doesn't need to, usually winning.
ReplyDeleteThey wanted him to use the new Dunlop "Spanker Tanker" but had to play in a skirt so he passed
DeleteWhy are we talking either Combo or Egomaniac? Geez playoffs are close. Can't we discuss that's.
ReplyDeleteWhat team is Kelly on? I pick them.
DeleteTrue, not sure if he is playing this year but if he does my money on the team he is on.
DeleteSisk wins QT. The return of GTC is near. After a season of tanking, it is time to unleash the beast.
ReplyDeleteTony did it last year, why not John? QT to sectionals
DeleteI see this happening. Flora is rested and ready to return to his 3.5 form. I suspect they will show tremendous improvement between the regular season and now.
DeleteDifference is Tony is an extraordinary tactician and knows how to game the system in an ethical way.
DeleteSo is 4.0 QT only 3 matches (flight winners don't play) and Cities 2 matches and flight winners play?
ReplyDelete2 teams advance out of QT?
DeleteAre the schedules out?
ReplyDeleteSuch a crappy format! Why not have a RR of 3 matches at QT with flight winners playing for one spot into Cities, then have a 5-team RR at Cities -- where everyone plays everyone -- instead of guaranteeing only TWO MATCHES for teams that advance to the CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS???
ReplyDeleteThen you get the 'but we wanted more teams to be able to experience the playoffs' BS. With this format I guess everyone can experience one match.
DeleteMore participation trophies.
DeleteDTA can't afford trophies. Texas section has now dropped down to towels for sectionals winners. That means the DTA will have to drop below that for cities winners.
DeleteKelley drained all the funds.
DeleteIf I ever won sectionals and got a towel I'd be pissed. I've never been to sectionals, but still, I'd be pissed.
DeleteParticipation "clean up towels" are the norm. Now we get championship "clean up towels."
DeleteYou'd still have the same amount of teams "experiencing" the playoffs ... but by severely limiting the number of matches teams are playing at Cities, you're not really getting a true champion at the end because you're not playing everyone. So much will depend on flighting.
ReplyDeleteHouston has 4 flights of 3 teams in playoffs.
ReplyDeleteJust because Houston goes full retard doesn't mean Dallas must also.
Deleteso they set it up like sectionals. makes sense, they think the Houston winner has an automatic pass to nationals anyway
DeleteThat's even more stupid ... guaranteeing teams two matches AND having fewer postseason participants than DTA.
ReplyDeleteWith all the whining just let everyone win. It is much easier than it used o be and the 3 person national rule really makes it easier for an average team to advance. This "let everyone win" mentality makes what "egomaniac" has done the past several years look even more impressive. All the complainers now see how difficult winning and getting to the big dance can be, much less 9 times.
ReplyDeleteGive all league players a trophy that says "nationals potential" and all will be good. Everyone is a winner! towels should also be handed out.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a six team round robin including a match on Friday night?
ReplyDeleteEach team would play five times over the weekend and rosters would really be tested.
That would allow DTA to do QT as scheduled and adjust cities weekend to play more matches.
What about we just go play? See you at cities.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Best team will prevail. Why the need for 5 or 6 matches.
ReplyDeleteName calling by anonymous. At least we know who the 12 year old is.
DeleteAnonymous calling anonymous a name. The irony. Are you a Creeper or a Hooker?
DeleteWhat is a clean up towel?
ReplyDeleteCum on.... You know.
DeleteI am the best 4.0 in the state and didn't even make playoffs. Who am I?
ReplyDeleteDave Terrell?
DeleteDave made the playoffs
DeleteAn auto bid to QT when you weren't on the team doesn't exactly qualify.
DeleteNever thought about it but that is a good point. Technically, that team did not make the playoffs. Only the fall team made it.
DeleteYou're either playing in the playoffs or you aren't. The fall team isn't playing in the spring playoffs. Let's see how he does.
DeleteMike Kelly?
DeleteMike Kelly isn't a 4.0.
DeleteBut he's still the BEST 4.0 in the state.
DeleteRene?
ReplyDeleteTrue, he has blown up quite a few players and still lost 1&1
DeleteSchedules still not out? My guess is They all went on vacatin.
ReplyDeleteThey are waiting for the bottom feeder teams to finish their matches.
DeleteHaven't seen the schedules yet but tennis link has the flights listed.
ReplyDeleteBlue flight: 1) Canyon Creek, 2) Village, 3) Greenhill, 4) Garland
Red flight: 1) McKinney, 2) Oak Creek, 3) Huffines, 4) TBar
Blue flight is clearly tougher than red.
DeleteBlue flight is a must watch.
DeleteBlue flight is a rematch of regular season Flight B. Canyon Creek edged Greenhill 3-2 the first time around. That match had three lines go to three sets and one line go to 6-6. Greenhill didn't have Lockhart or Schwartz, CC didn't have McHugh or Dawson. Should be a good match again.
DeleteBang up seeding by the DTA again. Tired of them screwing the same teams every time.
DeleteThose flights are seriously out of whack
DeleteIts because the original flights were out of whack. If they'd have been better balanced so would the results here.
DeleteSisk will finally start playing his real game. GH and CC will be irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteSorry. Just don't see enough on that Garland roster to make a huge difference from their regular season results.
DeleteGarland should be well rested
DeleteLooking at Garland, they have seriously tanked. They out tanked Tony Le. I bet this gets the DTA to drop the auto bid.
DeleteGarland's whole team should just be banned from tennis.
DeleteDTA email is out, looks like there was a change
ReplyDeleteBlue flight is CC, McKinney, GH, Garland
Red flight is Oak Creek, Village, Huffines, TBar
Any team in the blue flight would win the red flight
DeleteCC or McKinney?
DeleteEveryone said the same thing about 40s and the also-ran finished second while one of the favorites finished last. Its not how you look on paper. They have to actually show up and play. Some of these guys in the blue flight have better tennis reputations than they actually perform in big matches.
Deletelooks like they grouped 1,4, 5, 8 and 2,3,6,7 just like last year. snake format.
ReplyDeleteThat is the normal way to seed.
DeleteWith two matches on Saturday around mid-day there's going be a tough call on whether to dig deeper into the bench or run the risk that guys wear out.
ReplyDeleteDid Marc really resign his position?
ReplyDeleteHe's not there anymore. Not sure if it was his decision or not.
DeleteKlamecki got shit-canned ... and rightfully so!
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked! The real question is how the hell did he get hired in the first place. Rumor has it they've already hired a replacement but haven't told the general public about it yet.
DeleteBet they hire a woman.
DeleteI'll bet they hire a hard ass who has committed to putting those complainers on the blog in their place. The DTA is so mistreated and misunderstood.
DeleteLet's start with blue flight singles.
ReplyDeleteCanyon Creek has Huff, McHugh, Davis and Grossman
McKinney has Azhar, Hubbard, Shipley and Gerber
Greenhill has Hillin, Schwartz, Wettreich and Shanks
Garland has Yaremenko, Flora, Sims and Sampson
Who do you like more?
Yaremenko and Flora will roll through QT and cities and the return of GTC is official.
DeleteFlora??? This has to be a joke. He is 1-5 this spring. I would take Jomon Nadukkudiyil ahead of him. That dude has been very good in League Tennis and Ultimate Tennis.
DeleteJamon Nad...Nad..Nad ...not gonna make the lineup
DeleteJomon must be pimping himself. Nobody else could spell that name so they wouldn't use it. Haven't checked but I bet he is the only Jomon on Sisk's roster or any roster for that matter.
DeleteLol, played him in Ultimate once. He may not have much in game but he tries to make up for it in gamesmanship.
DeleteEarly results are starting to come in from QT and will be reported as they come across the wire. First match has Garland in a 3-2 win over Canyon Creek. Results were:
ReplyDeleteGARLAND Canyon Creek
YAREMENKO Davis
Flora HUFF
Baker - Schultz DAWSON - LOVING
SIMS - SAMPSON Patterson - Newby
CORCORAN - PACE Schmidt - Parten
CC easily handles Garland. You forgot McHugh. He will still play.
DeleteHe'll need to. He didn't play himself in any match that mattered so far this year. That would allow Davis to move to doubles.
DeleteSecond match has Greenhill over McKinney. Red flight to come tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteGREENHILL McKinney
Schwartz HUBBARD
HILLIN Azhar
Wettreich - Sheffield FRICK - ADAMS
LOCKHART - SHANKS Bowman - Mann
BURTON - CROW Villa - Rickman
Greenhill has some serious depth in doubles. If Hillin can deliver they can go a long way.
DeleteGarland getting a lot of respect for a middle of the pack team. Flora must be the best 1-5 player in history.
ReplyDeleteActually they showed him losing
DeleteWhen does the mid season ratings come out
ReplyDelete7/15 or so.
Delete4.0, here i come
Delete-Tony Le and Co.
once they get back to 4.0 they will have the privilege of getting curb stomped by houston again.
DeleteSince the lineups didn't seem to be of interest to anyone, for the red flight its
ReplyDeleteOak Creek over TBar
Village over Huffines
TBar over OC
ReplyDeleteHuffines over Village
just because
Good to see the AARP has their support out
DeleteSectionals draw is out now. In 4.5, Dallas is in flight 3, with NETX, Lubbock, and an unnamed wild card. In 4.0, Dallas is in flight 2, with San Angelo, NOHO, Amarillo, and a wild card.
ReplyDeleteWhere can this be found?
DeleteSomebody trying to screw with the masses? I'm sure the DTA would have told us all...
DeleteIf DTA has his info and not sharing i, that is BS. If this is true, someone has it.
DeleteUSTA Texas stopped posting sectionals flights early since a certain dallas captain dumped citiy finals to get in a better flight a few years ago.
DeleteI heard that Austin got a 4.5 wildcard to sectionals
ReplyDeleteI have seen the draws. Some of the captains have had them emailed to them; however, they are not posted. The info above is correct.
ReplyDeleteI was told two years ago that the DTA has the information like the other cities do that the DTA (Nolen at the time) didn't want it given to the Dallas captains because he felt it effected the integrity of the game. But everyone else in Texas knows because their city associations don't have such a crappy relationship with their players.
DeleteSame here. I have friends in Houston and Austin and their city association always tells the captains if there is a wildcard when USTA Austin tells them. All the city associations get it at the same time, the DTA just doesn't share it with captains like other cities do.
DeleteHow do you get it e-mailed to you? Why do some captains get this and others do not?
Delete^^^ Maybe they don't think your team has a chance so it doesn't matter?
DeleteIf someone has it, why don't they share it?
ReplyDeleteI'll share it. But first understand the process. Tosha emails it to all of the league coordinators, who in turn forward it to the winning team captains. None of the Dallas captains should have a copy yet, because the winners have not been determined.
Delete4.0: Flight 1 - NETX, Valley, Waco, Houston, Wild
Flight 2 - Dallas, San Angelo, Wild, NOHO, Amarillo
Flight 3 - San Antonio, Wild, QT, Corpus Christi, SETX
Flight 4 - Wild, Lubbock, Ft. Worth, Austin, Midland
4.5: Flight 1 - Houston, Wild, Amarillo, Corpus Christi
Flight 2 - Wild, San Antonio, San Angelo, NOHO
Flight 3 - NETX, Wild, Lubbock, Dallas
Flight 4 - Austin, SETX, Ft. Worth, Valley
Wild Card identities will not be announced until after the playoffs so that certain captains can't tank their way into perceived weaker flights.
That's why they don't announce which city has a wild card spot in which flight. Why won't the DTA just tell us whether we got a wild card for Dallas or not? Don't care which flight it is in.
Deleteguys, it's no secret. It's published on section website. You just have to look before you start complaining.
ReplyDeleteUnder: adult tennis / leagues / schedules
http://www.texas.usta.com/adult_tennis/usta_leagues/schedule/?intloc=headernavsub2
All true and all what is done every year. My complaint is that USTA Texas tells the city associations who will get wildcards. Houston, Austin and San Antonio city associations then tell their captains if the city got a wild card or not. DTA refuses to tell its captains. And if you ask Tosha she will only say that the DTA has the information and you have to get it from them. Of course the DTA won't let us know. Total BS.
DeleteDTA still has time to do the right thing. Maybe with Klamechi gone the DTA is turning over a friendlier leaf.
DeleteThat BS was around long before Klamecki. We can kick Klamecki around but that is not his doing.
DeleteMaybe FW will take him back now
DeleteI'm not a fan of some things at the DTA either, but many of you just like to bitch and complain about a lot of things. Geez, can we talk constructively on this site at all?
DeleteNo one seems to mind the complaining unless it's about the DTA. Who do you work for? If you'd like constructive conversation maybe the DTA could take some constructive action and we could applaud them.
DeleteDallas 5.0 got screwed. They are in the same flight as Houston, Austin, NOHO and Fort Worth. Tough flight
ReplyDeleteThe other 5.0 flight consists of West, El Paso, Sherman, Paris and Texarkana.
ReplyDeleteEl Paso is in the Southwest region. I think it is Wichita Falls.
DeleteI'm looking for Canyon Creek to put it together at 4.0. They've seen tough competition all year in 18s and 40s so they will be ready. After a few tough breaks, it goes their way this weekend. Captain McHugh rides in to save the day!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. They were mighty close as it was but no gimmes this weekend.
DeleteWith Huff they should start up 1-0
DeleteHillin will beat Huff!!! He will be the difference.
DeleteAgreed. I think they will go 11-4 for the weekend in some fashion. They just have to many good players.
DeleteHas anyone noticed the #2 seed in men's 4.5 doubles in the FT worth major zone???? Are you freakin kidding me????
ReplyDeleteVince Kingsley won the Tyler MZ. Not unexpected.
DeleteVince is currently ranked the #6 4.5 doubles player in Texas and the highest ranked 4.5 doubles player in DFW. Respect.
DeleteRegardless of his average partner, the high ranked players get seeded. Deal with it. Vince has done a good job transitioning to the next level.
DeleteIf Austin has a 4.5 wild card then one left for 4.5. Anyone know someone from Houston or Ft Worth to see if they got it. If not, then most likely dallas?
ReplyDeleteHeard it was Houston. Not surprised, USTA Texas has no love for Dallas and no respect for Fort Worth.
DeleteWho's the 3.5 guy on Fretz/Martin? He joined late in the season and beat a decent 4.0 2&1.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a varsity tennis player at McMurray. Should be rated at least 4.5. Also Super Champ within last 5 years. Interesting - played in 2012 on nationals team as 3.5 (prior to college and prior to Super Champ) to now have computer rating. Looks like playing the system at its finest. Should be bumped to 4.5/5.0 as current DIII player.
Deleteanother Keith Clark special. Expect him to be DQ'd shortly. It has been brought to Todd's attention.
DeleteThink he is tanking?
DeleteWe filed a grievance in him today and Todd instantly said he was legitimate. Didn't give us a reason.
DeleteI think Vince is good enough to carry Kelly a long way in the Tyler MZ.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Kelly just wants to check out Vince's game. Looks like they may be squaring off against each other in 8.5 combo
DeleteDon't think Kelly needs to scout Vince. Unless, he is gauging if he can beat him with his left hand. I take Vince in three with Kelly left handed.
Delete
