It will be interesting to see how the 4.5 flights shake-out
but it looks like there will be only 3.
Despite some pre-season hype it looks like Pickett will not
be fielding a super team as was speculated with Tikashi signing up for Tony Le
& Mike Kelly headed back to the Hack.
We will see where Hai and Coach Dan sign-up – I’m guessing it will be for
Tony Le…..
Pre-Season rankings:
1.
Village – No longer a surprise these guys won the
fall and were tough in the Spring where they probably deserved the Sectionals
wild-card spot. Peiser, Frick, Baker,
& Vacalis are tough! Their weakness is a lack of depth
2.
Fair Oaks/ Noel – combined with ex Brookhaven/
Bartlett and will be a force this spring.
With their depth they may be #1
3.
High Pt/ Le – as mentioned above these guys have
some of the Pickett studs and with Alfredo Perez & Jay Benjamin will be a
very tough team to beat
4.
Lakes – these guys will be very tough, especially
if they can convince Vu to play….. Welwood & Jannesch are basically a lock
and Blake W is very strong on singles.
If Mark Morgan and Hans Oberg sign-up this team becomes a serious
contender (assuming their captain learns from past mis-steps….)
5.
Brookhaven/ Goswami – this new team has some 5.0
bump-downs and raided the other 2 Bhaven teams.
They will be tough!
6.
JCC – Have combined with the Greenhill Fall team
and should be a contender under Coach Reiman
7.
TBar – Continue to be feisty every season and
put up good results.
8.
Royal Oaks – have lost some players (Jason Moore
to 5.0) but will be tough every week
9.
Oak Creek/ Herget – these veterans made it to
Sectionals in 2012 and with Paul Kiron back will be a force
T10.
GlenEagles – have lost some key players to 5.0
so will struggle
T10.
Sisk 1 – Have lost players from last Spring but
Hiram and the O’Bannons will be tough
In the 5.0 league TBar have a very strong team (King Oscar
has done an incredible recruiting job) but the Village will challenge them. Unfortunately for the rest, they will be fighting it out for that 3rd
play-off spot!
My team finally gets some love but I think once rosters are fully formed this list could change quite a bit.

Anyone know how the Dallas team is doing at tri-level nationals? It does not come up on tennislink.
ReplyDelete3-0 so far. I'll update when I find out.
ReplyDeleteThey are in the quarters and tied 1-1 with the 3.5'a still on the court. Mike Kelly said he was lucky enough to warm up with Petrova on a warm up court before his match.
ReplyDeleteThey won. Headed to semi finals tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHer hitting partner had to be excused for a few moments so the tourney director ask him to warm up w Petrova...... when he gets back to Dallas he will forget how to play tennis altogether.....LOL!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWon't be the first time he forgets
DeleteDallas went 4-0 in its tri-level flight. All matches were 2-1 but Kelly and Moore are undefeated.
ReplyDeletecertainly like your web site however you have to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of your posts.
ReplyDeleteA number of them are rife with spelling problems and I to find it very troublesome to tell the reality then
again I'll certainly come back again.

Dallas tri level in the final.
ReplyDeleteDallas won tri level nationals.
ReplyDelete3.5 and 4.0 have been flighted. Looks pretty fair. The best teams appear to be spread out among the flights.
ReplyDeleteStill waiting on 4.5
Am pulling for Kelly to fail miserably in finals, bet he chokes ! Haha
ReplyDeleteHe didn't and he never will, Mike's rock solid.
ReplyDeleteOnly reason he won nationals was the two California guys he beat in semis and finals were tired. If he was in their bracket in the early rounds he would never have gotten the title. Funny how he and the teams he plays on somehow get luck and scheduling on their side. 95 degree heat and he plays Sunday morning before it gets hot!!!
ReplyDeleteIdiot - Kelly played every single match. You don't think he was tired? Besides - that's where champions come from---the guys that can fight through the pain and being tired. Wasn't the Australian Opne Nadal Djokovic match considered one of the best of all times because they fought for over 5 1/2 hours battling out, even when tired? March 18 9:24 poster is a MORON.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing Kelly can win Nationals at is cheating. If he is happy with himself for beating up on lower level players, good for him. He can enjoy his little trophy for a while but Karma always catches up to cheaters. If you don't believe that just ask Pickett.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Kelly should just give the title back. Tell them sorry he showed up, beat their best out of level players and erase the wins. Take the event off the books and give the second place team the win. That will make all the people here in Texas happy. As long as he fails, gets his Karma, loses all matches and stops playing tennis here in Dallas everything will be right w the world.
DeleteNobody says he should quit playing, but why doesn't he simply play and try to win it at his level? The answer is quite simple. It's the same reason why Pickett doesn't play anymore, other than the occasional match to try to get back down to 4.0.
DeleteKelly gets to accept a national award for Texas tennis in California, beating both teams from California. He gets to meet Nadal and Delpotro and at least puts Texas tennis in the winning column. He gets the award on stadium court at BNP Paribas. He is now bashed and considered a lucky winner for beating lower level players? You should have seen the other do called 4.5's!... Why all the hate? Congrats to Texas Tri level men and Pickett their captain!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's always the excuse, you should've seen the other 4.5s.......So they should get a national title in out-cheating the others because that's what nationals is all about these days...that is what you're saying afterall. So congrats to team Texas for out-cheating the rest of the country and winning it all. Now lets watch them all tank for a year or two and make another run in 2016. Bunch of cheating egotistic bitches if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteYou tell em! Atta boy! That'll teach him ! Next time he thinks about winning nationals he will have second thoughts! You keep throwing insults, he will keep collecting titles that he should be ashamed of! Everyone pile on the negative criticism !
ReplyDelete11:05 AM poster is a dick.
DeleteKelly was well behaved, played great, and was clutch all weekend. The hater does not have a clue about anything. They apparently think they are judge and jury. But actually your just an ass.
Pcikett's team played great and won. It was an awesome experience. Everybody on that team played hard and did well.
Congrats to Dallas Tri Level. However, not what this thread is about. Especially about Kelly. leave the guy alone! Re: 4.5, good analysis. However both Brookhaven teams should be ranked a bit higher. They will both be tough. JCC should be at #2. Village prob stays at #1. Wonder what the older powerhouses in Rothwell and Herget will do, definitely not looking as strong as in the past.
ReplyDeleteWhat team is Kelly going 0-6 on this season? Just wanted to get in on the bashing. I'll admit he's out of level by, but to win past Dallas, you have to be. I was a mixed sectionals last year and he was out played by a 3.5 from south Texas. And that team didn't even make the final. Congrats to the tri level team. I think Dallas has a good shot at a few national championships this season. And Mike sucks. Had to make sure I put that in again.
ReplyDeleteIf Kelly not on your team you do not make it to nationals... Oh and btw keep sucking. keep going to nationals and keep winning Kelly, wish I could suck too just like you
ReplyDeleteWhat is considered out of level? Sure Kelly could play at the 5.0 level. So could about 50 other guys in 4.5 . Are they all out of level? Let's face it there are two levels @ 4.5. The city level and the national level. It's that way in every city, and every state. If you have ever been to nationals you would know what I'm talking about. I will agree that Kelly tanks to stay 4.5. I've seen it in person. Let's just remember about 25% of the league does the same thing. Nobody gets bumped down from 5.0 without tanking.
ReplyDeleteYou must be a teammate of his, there are not 50 guys who could play at the national level and consistently win. Quit making excuses! 20 percent may tank but that 20 percent can't play anywhere near his ability when he actually trys to win. Stop the apologies for Kelley! This guy can play open tennis and compete, even at 48!
DeleteTired of the Kelly bashing - this post is about the upcoming season. Flights are out - contenders in each:
ReplyDeleteFlight A: Fair Oaks; JCC; Oak Creek & Brookhaven/ Harlee
Flight B: Village; Lakes; TBar; Brookhaven/ Goswami
Flight C: Hi Pt; Royal Oaks; GlenEagles; Garland
Not sure how qualification for playoffs will work. I will try to find out and get back with that
I don't even know Mike Kelly. I've just seen him play, both for real and tanking. I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a single national title in men's team tennis. He might in mixed, but who cares about that. There have been plenty of guys in this league that are just as good as Kelley. Walt Williams, Ron Morrison, Jason Kern, Gene Davis, and those are just off the top of my head. I'm sure I could find 20 more if i researched it. All I'm saying is quit acting like this guy just stepped off the pro tour. There will always be players " out of level ". My advice is if you get to play an out of level player who is trying to win just enjoy the competition. If you play one who is tanking, fake an injury , default the match, and report it to the usta. If they keep getting defaults, and complaints things will change.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rossouw for talking about contenders and asking to stop the Kelley bashing. As far as the previous poster the few guys you mentioned no doubt very nice players but not in Kelley's league, he has another gear when needed. When hitting w Petrova and from 100 feet away thinking it is a tour player rallying w her you are not a 4.5.! Or a 5.0 for that matter!
ReplyDeleteNo way is Garland 4.5 a contender. Have you looked at his roster?
ReplyDeleteThanks to the likes of M. Kelly and half of the other players on that Pickett team, Dallas has become the new Caribbean... you know that team that everyone used to accuse of being the "best" cheaters in USTA tennis! Hope you guys on that team are all proud of yourselves. I say you earned it! Thats right earned the cheater label not the championship one.
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry and will give back the title. We don't want to be compared to the Carribeans. Great players, great food and great weather. I just smashed my trophy and called Sharspova and Wozniacki and told them it was NOT nice to meet them.... Oh, and next time I will let Petrova win a 10 pt tiebreaker. And when my Texas national winning team is called to stadium court while Nadal and Del potro looking on, I will knock down the PA announcer and tell him we don't deserve it, give it to the 5.0's from SO CAL..... NOT!
ReplyDeleteNow that is funny!!!!!
ReplyDelete@11:11AM Good one!
ReplyDeleteHow come you can't access the National tri-level match results on TennisLink? They aren't listed under the team or the players who supposedly played last weekend.
ReplyDeletePretty component to content. I simply stumbled upon your web site and in accession capital to assert that I acquire actually loved account your
ReplyDeleteblog posts. Any way I will be subscribing on your augment or even I success

Hey 11:11 spoken like one of the guilty cheaters that the above poster was referencing. Keep up your cheating and your jock sniffing on the "pros" what ever turns you on. Oh and by the way, I am quite sure that Nadal and Del potro were very impressed by you.
ReplyDeleteJust to add salt to the wound of all the posters sulking about Pickett's tri-level team's triumph in the desert, it seems that this event is not sanctioned by the USTA.
ReplyDeleteIt is an invitational competition, and the results will not be taken into consideration in the determination of future NTRP ratings.
That is the reason you can't access the results through Tennis Link. Talk about having your cake and eating it too.
Nevertheless, congrats to all those who played, and got a tennis experience the rest of us can only dream of.
Would rather be enjoying titles and playin w the pros instead of throwing insults and immature posts....just sayin. Get behind your computer and trash anyone who succeeds, it will make you feel better.....

ReplyDeleteThis blog has made the big time. It's finally getting spammed. Of course some of the spam is more intelligent than the tennis posts. How about a 4.0 preview?
ReplyDeleteIt's not spam. It's Mike Kelly screwing with the blog.
ReplyDeleteJust a joke. Doesn't you know that all things bad are because of Mike. Hurricanes, plagues, and starvation. All hi fault.
ReplyDeleteSchedules are out.
ReplyDeleteLooking through 4.0...
ReplyDeleteFlight A: Sisk in a landslide. Sisk got a very easy flight. All of that Sisk complaining finally paid off.
Flight B: Toughest flight. Oak Creek/Head wins but BH/Bartlett and SP/Walters could give him a scare.
Flight C: HP/Le... May have an easier flight than Sisk. I guess his Tri-Level shenanigans paid off. There is nobod else in this flight. Weymer? I thought he was 5.0 and now he is 4.0; WTF?
Flight D: CC/Dawson should win easily but Village/Gordon is lurking (not much chance but lurking). Nobody else in the flight worth mentioning.
Flight E: Bazan wins this with the only competition Greenhill/Ohl.
I have to give the DTA credit in the respect that spread the winning teams out.
In the end, it will be HP/Le beating GTC/Sisk for the city championships. Le or Somabut... looks like the more things change the more they stay the same. Meet the old boss... the same as the old!
He is not even trying to win at 4.5 men's for heaven sake!... Why all the stupid comments? He is playing on a team that will not win a match this spring. Let it be!!!!!!! People are angry when he wins and angry when he doesn't try to! He will not keep anyone from winning the league bec he is not playing for a team that cares!
ReplyDelete4.0
ReplyDeleteFlight A: Correct - Sisk - easy flight, 3 of teams are mostly 3.5
2nd ElDorado 3rd LBH
Flight B: Yes, toughest flight...4 horse race OC, BH, TBar, SP tough call, probably in this order
Flight C: HP/Le wins easily...flight not as easy as Sisk's though...Fair Oaks, Eldorado, and OC/Rich fight for 2nd...I'll pick OC/Rich
Flight D: CC/Dawson easy. Flight weak. Village (lost best players to 4.5) and Gleneagles fight for 2nd
Flight E: Ditto McK/Bazan over GH/Ohl 3rd: Huff/Prat or BH/Tar
Sisk's Fall team had 3 or 4 bumped to 4.5....HP/Le for the Championship...but it should be an interesting playoffs
Well that makes cheating ok then, sorry.
ReplyDeleteno body can come close to what Le is putting out there. Many of those boys would do very well at 4.5
ReplyDeleteReally? Who would do well at 4.5 on that team? You must be one of the Le team members trying to stroke you own ego.
DeleteSome of those guys have been 4.5s in the past and got killed at 4.5, you might want to do a little research before you spew on this blog.
Yes, we all "Do our Research" before posting here, lol
Deleteweymer and yeh would be only ones who would do well at 4.5. still a solid 4.0 team, but not great.
DeleteWeymer, Glasgow and Yeh would do just fine at 4.5. Teterud played 4.5 and was competitive. He will be strong at 4.0.
DeleteThose four have got to be in Le's top tier and will all be real strong this year
DeleteTeterude competitive at 4.5 ? LMFOA
ReplyDeleteHe lost EVERY 3.5 play-off match at singles, half of his tri-level matchs and about half of his 4.0 regular season matches.
Let me guess, he was tanking so he doesn't get bumped to 5.0 !!!haha
Teterud is the real deal. He told me himself.
DeleteTeterud, who even brought that name up? That guy thinks he can beat Nadal at singles. Problem is when it comes crunch time, he can't win at 3.5.
ReplyDeleteHe can beat Kelly!
ReplyDeleteWho can't during Spring.
ReplyDeleteWho on Le's team is not a solid 4.5? Didn't they have a doubles team at Tri level that won 13 straight matches including fall men's? Who beats that team? NO ONE!
ReplyDeleteReferring to Undefeated team of Perez and Chavez. Have not lost a match at 4.5. Better take Le team seriously. Had those guys played Tri level they would have gone to nationals!
ReplyDeleteYeah, because they beat Kelly and Moore when it matters? Dream on. But kudos for going undefeated in the fall. Everyone takes that so seriously.
ReplyDeleteThey beat Kelley and Moore most of the time, that was a fluke that they lost. kelley treed in that match. He cannot play solid doubles very often.
ReplyDeleteLOL...it's called winning when it matters. Clutch players do that. They also go 6-0 at Nationals. Guess he was treed all weekend.
ReplyDeleteGotta say going 21 and 0 in sectionals and nationals the last few years not too shabby. Not a Kelley fan but that pretty amazing. Let's see how he does though in the 40 and over. Beating up on kids one thing but playing experienced players another.
DeleteI hope he gets beat at Tri level galaxy finals, let's see him play the guys from Mars and Jupitet!
DeleteKelly will crush this solar system but he might get challenged at Galaxy. Although, his real competition really starts at Universe. Mars and Jupiter aren't even a concern.
DeleteOnly thing he will be crushing soon are Geritol pills, he is slowing down and will be regressing w his singles play.
ReplyDeleteMight want to start calling this the Mike Kelly Blog. Is everyone gay for this guy or what?
ReplyDeleteHow about a new thread for 4.0 starting this week?
ReplyDeleteBec if you are not bashing Kelly this blog gets boring.... Oops sorry. What 4.0 team looks to be the best on paper? Does it look like the winner will come from a club or city park? Is it better to have your strongest 4.0 in singles or go for the doubles lines?
ReplyDeleteHP Le beats GTC Sisk
DeleteBREAKING NEWS:
ReplyDeleteOur whole 4.5 team has decided to shave their heads if Kelley wins a 4,5 mens match this spring in two sets...this is no joke. Not three set win, only two set win. Again, this is NO JOKE. You will know who we are if it happens!
Start shavin boys and lets see who you are! Kelly playin w USTA TX PRESIDENT today and I GUARANTEE he is winning that match. Are you guys gonna crawfish on your bet?!!!!
DeleteThis kelly guy must really be a schmuck...
ReplyDeleteA really good schmuck !
Delete
ReplyDeleteMy page homepage
Kelly won 1-3. Can't wait to see some bald people playing tennis. My guess is that they will chicken out.
ReplyDeleteGet of Kelly's jock people. We don't need constant updates on how he did
ReplyDeleteWe stand behind our commitment to shave our heads but it has to be a singles loss. Doubles means nothing and you cannot manipulate the scores like in singles. He does not have the guts to win a singles match!
ReplyDeleteRossouw! You jinxed the Village in the first week! Haha... It clearly must have been the change in leadership :)
ReplyDelete
