How well do you know your tri-level team?

I've just seen the lineups and I can't bear to watch the match

We've got the right players.  We're convinced we can go the distance.  If we can survive our captain.  Yeah, you can only play the match if you're in the lineup but it may be won or lost long before the players take the court.

Every year they come in larger and larger hordes

Freeman used to have hundreds of 4.0s to choose from.  Then it was a seemingly unending stream of 4.5s.  Fresh off his 2015 national title now he seems to have waves of 3.5s to choose from.  But it all starts with the loyal immortals.  His Thursday night guys.  Can he convince a few to stay home or will he be saddled with having to play them all at Kingwood.  He has done well in the past steering a few guys towards the bleachers and still having them ready to saddle back up next year.

The true 300, but all at 4.0

As the story goes, many moons ago Sisk had a team that got the wild card option but he couldn't accept it because he couldn't field a full team on late notice.  Since then he has filled his cupboards with players at 8.5 combo and tri-level.  This year it's only at 4.0 but he has a lot of them and it's a tough flight.  He's also too nice a guy to say no so we'll see if someone on his team steps up to deliver the bad news or if his two 9.0 lines can carry the day.

We've made sweet music all year, why stop now

Tony has ridden with his guys all year and it has paid off well for him.  But it's a little different now.  He had 4.0 cornered but he's had to step outside the band for 3.5s and 4.5s and I'm just not sure the music will be quite as sweet.  And yes, that is Tony on the right.

I don't know, they all look the same

And finally it's everyone else.  Austin could be good.  SETX is respectable.  NETX always finishes in the middle.  San Antonio has the potential.  Wild Dallas already beat Dallas once.  What can I say?  At least this year, the rest all looks the same.  Pygmy cannibal mummies nipping at the big boys heals.

  1. Sisk will play to win. Rigney will not play and zackery will not play unless it is a meaningless match. I assume Kingsley would only play if wild Dallas was out of it as well.

  2. Fort Worth wins easy.Everyone else should stay home. Even Tiny can't touch that line up. He can't manipulate the event like he did a few years back.(No one will ever forget that)

    4.5-Kelly/Pollard
    4.0-Faris/Alan A
    3.5-Long/Huynh

    3. Why not Alan. Because it's not mixed?

    4. Alan trying to get down to 3.5 so he can play 6.0 mixed.

    5. Alan would still lose at 3.5

  3. This year Fort Worth has the biggest advantage I ever see. Kelly and the 3.5s.

  4. No chance. You'd be better off saying the 4.0's beat the 4.5's in the Ft Worth group. They are stacked and locked and loaded.

  5. Everyone keeps bringing up the Tiny Le incident??? What happened and if it was that bad why didn't Spiny Le get suspended or disciplined??

    1. Because Todd Reed has no balls! Tosha may but not in an intestinal fortitude sense!

  6. And please comment if you only know the facts for the rest of us to know what really happened.

  7. Facts: Tony lied. Made up scores. Manipulated lineups and changed results. Other than that he was above board. Result: DTA and USTA looked the other way. And it was done right in front of them at the tourney itself

  8. Fact. Tony had two teams that qualified and were flighted with eachother at sectionals. He had one team tank versus the other so they could advance. But rather than actually lose the 4.5s played the match and his primary team lost but they reported the scores as a win. He also had people play under other's names. It was blatant and was as bad an instance of cheating as there has been.

  9. Tiny Le and his Asian clan are the biggest hypocrites in the Metroplex. Don't turn your back on the guy. Looks like he didn't do so well at the bent tree this weekend, can you say over-rated......other than at cheating!

    2. No way Kelly loses to NOHO. He just won't play.

  13. I never knew 1 player wins trilevel by himself. Whoever keeps bringing up Kelly is a clown.

  14. Why the hell is tri-level getting so much coverage and there hasn't been a single post on the 40s season?

    1. Who cares about the 40's season !?!

At least the winner of Tri Level gets a trip to Indian Wells for Nationals.

    2. Hopefully the DTA allows more than 2 teams from the 9 team flight in the playoffs in 40s 4.5+ since all of the best teams are in that flight.

      Delete
    3. Nope. Already been decided. 2 teams from each flight.

    4. To 9:24 "who cares about 40's":

Have you seen the competition at 40's??? Fun league I guess but nothing to write home about. 18's will get some blog time but 40's a joke. Especially guys playing two leagues in Dal and FW??? What a waste. Reason trilevel gets all the attention is the quality of tennis at nationals and the level of play. Winning 40's like winning China open.. Winning a Tri level title like winning a grand slam.

    5. Tri-level gets coverage on here for the same reason mixed gets coverage on here. Think about it.

  15. Free matches at TBar tomorrow for qualifying for challenger tournament. Former top 40 player in 2013 Marinko Matovesic plays at 10. I am sure he was happy to see that Mike Kelly wasn't in the draw.

  16. I saw Mike Kelley and Tom Adcock playing singles at Brookhaven Sat. I was playing right next to them and heard the score called out many times. Either Tom Adcock is really bad or Kelly is really good. Not saying they were betting but it looked as if Kelly was really trying.
